Day 1

Nairobi – Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

Jambo! Welcome to Kenya, the heart of East Africa. Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your personal guide from Africa Safari Trips will greet you warmly. This is where your magical adventure begins! You’ll be driven straight to your hotel, allowing you to absorb the vibrant atmosphere of Nairobi. As you navigate the bustling streets, the colorful matatus (local buses) and towering skyscrapers will provide an exhilarating first impression of the city. Your accommodation for the night will be the prestigious Pride Inn Nairobi, where you can relax and enjoy the luxurious amenities. Here, meals will be provided, and you can unwind before starting your exciting journey.

Day 2

Nairobi – Ol Pejeta Conservancy

After breakfast, prepare for a scenic drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a haven for rhino enthusiasts. This conservancy is renowned for being the largest sanctuary for black rhinos in East and Central Africa, home to 140 black rhinos and the last two remaining northern white rhinos in the world. In addition, Ol Pejeta is home to a sanctuary for abused chimpanzees. Expect to see the Big Five and more during your visit. After check-in and lunch at Sweetwaters Serena Camp, embark on an afternoon game drive, capturing the beauty of wildlife in their natural habitat. Enjoy dinner and your overnight stay at the camp.

Day 3

Ol Pejeta – Samburu National Reserve

Next, we journey to Samburu National Reserve, a five-hour drive filled with stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife. This reserve spans 165 square kilometers, showcasing a semi-dry desert and savannah landscape that offers excellent visibility for spotting animals. Notably, Samburu is home to over 900 elephants and four of the Big Five. Furthermore, it features the Samburu Special Five: Grevy zebra, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, and the Somali ostrich. Arriving in the afternoon, you’ll check in at the Samburu Sopa Lodge, enjoy lunch, and then venture out for an exhilarating game drive, providing a glimpse of what this remarkable reserve has to offer.

Day 4

Full Day Safari in Samburu National Reserve

On this full day in Samburu, take the opportunity to search for the elusive Big Five while marveling at the majestic elephants. Morning and afternoon game drives are ideal for spotting wildlife, as the animals are most active during these times. Between safaris, you can relax at your lodge or visit a local Samburu village. The Samburu people, related to the Maasai, lead a nomadic lifestyle, living in circular bomas adorned with vibrant beadwork. You may even visit a boma to learn about their traditions, including how they create their beautiful necklaces. After a day of exploration, enjoy dinner and overnight accommodations at the lodge.

Day 5

Samburu National Reserve – Aberdare National Park

Prepare for a scenic drive to Aberdare National Park, approximately 600 kilometers away, which takes about six hours. After breakfast, depart with a packed lunch for this beautiful journey. Arriving in the afternoon, check in at The Ark Lodge for lunch and rest before heading out for an afternoon game drive. You’ll have the unique opportunity to observe wildlife from the lodge balcony and underground bunkers. With occasional alarms from your room when special animals approach the flood-lit waterhole, your experience will be unforgettable. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be at The Ark Lodge.

Day 6

Aberdare National Park – Lake Nakuru National Park

Welcome to Lake Nakuru National Park! A mere three-hour drive from Aberdare, this stunning national park is home to four of the Big Five and is renowned for its remarkable wildlife. Previously known for its massive flamingo population, Lake Nakuru still offers opportunities to spot black and white rhinos, giraffes, buffalos, lions, leopards, baboons, and over 400 bird species. Check in at the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge upon arrival, where you can rest and enjoy lunch before embarking on an afternoon game drive. After a day of adventure, you will have dinner and overnight accommodations at the lodge.

Day 7

Lake Naivasha & Crescent Island

Start your day with an early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. After breakfast, depart for Lake Naivasha, a short two-hour drive away. This breathtaking lake, situated in the Kenyan Rift Valley, is ideal for a boat safari among hippos and flamingos. As you navigate the shores, you may spot zebras, wildebeests, and giraffes. Following the boat safari, enjoy a guided walking safari on Crescent Island, often referred to as the hidden gem of Naivasha. Your accommodation for the night will be at Crater Lake Tented Camp and Game Lodge, where you’ll check in and have lunch. Afterward, enjoy various activities at the lake and Crescent Island. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 8

Lake Naivasha – Amboseli National Park

Next, we head to Amboseli National Park, located on the border of Kenya and Tanzania, approximately seven to eight hours from Lake Naivasha. Arriving just in time for an afternoon game drive, Amboseli boasts magnificent views of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro. Known for its large populations of free-roaming elephants, this park offers incredible opportunities for iconic photographs against the backdrop of Africa’s highest peak. After check-in and lunch at Tulia Camp Amboseli, you’ll embark on an afternoon game drive, followed by dinner and overnight accommodations at the camp.

Day 9

Full Day Safari in Amboseli National Park

On this day, rise early to enjoy a sunrise game drive when animals are most active. This full-day safari allows you to explore the expansive 392 square kilometers of Amboseli. Here, you’ll encounter giraffes, zebras, buffalos, and big cats like lions, cheetahs, and leopards. The Maasai people, who live nearby, lend their name to the park. Additionally, during your time in Amboseli, you can immerse yourself in Maasai culture by visiting a local village, further enriching your safari experience.

Day 10

Tsavo West National Park

As we venture into Tsavo West National Park, you’ll be greeted by a diverse landscape of green hills, savannah, and lava rocks from nearby volcanoes. Covering 9,065 square kilometers, Tsavo West is home to all the Big Five alongside a myriad of other wildlife. Famous for the Shetani Lava Flows, the park is also home to the crystal-clear Mzima Springs, where hippos and crocodiles can be easily spotted. After check-in and lunch at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge, surrounded by stunning natural beauty.

Day 11

Tsavo East National Park

Next, we journey to Tsavo East National Park, located just two hours from Tsavo West. With an impressive size of 13,000 square kilometers, this park is particularly famous for its lions and elephants. While exploring the savannah, keep an eye out for the spectacular sights of Madunda Rock, Lugard Falls, and the Aruba Dam, which are popular wildlife viewing spots. Tsavo East offers a perfect backdrop for observing a rich array of animals. Your accommodation, including lunch and dinner, will be at Sentrim Tsavo.

Day 12

Tsavo East National Park – Lamu Island

Today, we take a scenic flight to Lamu Island, a beautiful destination just off the coast of Kenya in the Indian Ocean. Lamu Island, founded in the 12th century, is renowned for its well-preserved Swahili architecture and vibrant culture. As you check into The Majlis, you’ll have leisure activities by the beach and enjoy the hotel’s amenities, providing a perfect way to relax after your adventurous safari.

Day 13

Full Day in Lamu

On your final full day, explore Lamu Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the oldest Swahili settlements in East Africa. With its rich history in trade and diverse cultures, Lamu boasts architecture that reflects Arabic, Persian, Indian, and European influences. Spend your afternoon relaxing on the beach, engaging in water sports, or participating in other activities. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at The Majlis.

Day 14

Departure from Lamu to Nairobi

As our 14 Days Best Kenya Safari comes to a close, we will journey back to Nairobi, which can be done via a scenic drive of approximately 10 hours or a quick one-hour and thirty-minute flight. In the morning, your guide will assist you in your return to Nairobi. Upon arrival, you’ll be dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight or at your hotel, depending on your accommodation arrangements.
