Day 1

Arrival in Nairobi – Welcome to Kenya

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by the Lamara Tourism team and transferred comfortably to your hotel in Nairobi. After check-in, take time to relax and recover from your journey while enjoying the comfort of your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time and energy levels, you may have the opportunity for a gentle introduction to Nairobi or a nearby heritage attraction. In the evening, enjoy a warm welcome dinner featuring authentic Kenyan cuisine as your guide introduces you to the exciting cultural and safari experiences that await throughout your journey.

Day 2

Nairobi Heritage $ The Story Of Kenya

After breakfast, begin your journey into Kenya’s rich history and cultural heritage with a visit to the National Museum of Kenya, where you will discover fascinating stories of the country’s people, archaeological heritage, art, culture and natural history. Continue to Karen, an area steeped in Nairobi’s colonial and cultural history, before visiting Bomas of Kenya to experience the diverse traditions of Kenya’s communities through traditional homesteads, music, dance and cultural performances. The day offers a gentle and engaging introduction to Kenya’s heritage, with plenty of time to appreciate the experiences at a relaxed pace before returning to your hotel for dinner and an evening of rest.

Day 3

The Kikuyu Heartland and Mount Kenya

After breakfast, journey into the heart of Central Kenya, where rich agricultural landscapes meet the cultural heritage of the Kikuyu people. Along the way, enjoy a meaningful community-based cultural experience featuring traditional homesteads, farming practices, indigenous plants, crafts, music and storytelling, while learning about the important role of family and elders in Kikuyu society. A traditional Kenyan lunch provides an opportunity to sample local favourites such as mukimo, githeri, traditional vegetables and hearty stews. In the afternoon, continue towards the Mount Kenya region, taking in spectacular views of the mountain, tea and coffee farms, rolling highlands and picturesque rural landscapes before settling in for a relaxing evening surrounded by the beauty of Central Kenya.

Day 4

Mount Kenya Scenic Experience to Samburu

After breakfast, continue your journey from the scenic Mount Kenya highlands towards the captivating landscapes of northern Kenya. Enjoy a relaxed drive with opportunities to admire views of Mount Kenya, visit Nanyuki and experience the memorable Equator crossing, with time for a local coffee experience and a leisurely lunch. As you travel through Isiolo, the lush green landscapes gradually give way to the rugged beauty of northern Kenya, creating a striking change in scenery. By afternoon, arrive in the Samburu region and settle into your lodge, where you can unwind, enjoy the tranquil surroundings and prepare for the cultural and wildlife experiences ahead.

Day 5

Samburu Wildlife Experience

After a relaxed breakfast, spend the morning discovering the rich cultural heritage of the Samburu people through a community visit featuring a traditional welcome, storytelling, music, dance, beadwork and insights into pastoral life and local traditions. Guests will have the opportunity to meet community elders, learn about the Samburu way of life and discover the important connection between the community, its environment and wildlife. After lunch and time to rest at the lodge, enjoy a gentle afternoon game drive through Samburu National Reserve, exploring the landscapes around the Ewaso Ng’iro River in search of elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffes and other wildlife. The day concludes with an intimate Samburu storytelling experience, where traditional stories and knowledge of family, community, wildlife and conservation bring the culture to life.

Day 6

Samburu to Ol Pejeta & Nanyuki

After a relaxed breakfast, depart Samburu and journey back towards the lush landscapes of Central Kenya, enjoying scenic views as the rugged northern terrain gradually transforms into the greener surroundings of Nanyuki. Along the way, stop for lunch and continue to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, where wildlife and conservation come together in a unique and meaningful experience. Enjoy a scenic game drive with opportunities to see rhinos, elephants, lions and other wildlife, while learning about the conservancy’s pioneering efforts in protecting endangered species. Depending on the group’s interests and timing, a visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary and other conservation initiatives can also be included. Later, continue to Nanyuki for a relaxed evening and overnight stay, surrounded by beautiful views of the Mount Kenya region.

Day 7

Nanyuki to Nairobi

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast in the beautiful Nanyuki countryside, with an opportunity to take in the final views of Mount Kenya before beginning your journey back to Nairobi. Depending on your departure schedule, you may enjoy a final coffee experience, browse local crafts, or make a brief stop at the Equator for photographs and a memorable farewell to the region. Continue to Nairobi for a leisurely farewell lunch and, time permitting, some last-minute shopping before being transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your Kenya of Our Ancestors journey.
